The first thing you need to do is make sure that the Samsung Smart Switch app is installed on both devices. If your source smartphone is not a Samsung device, you can download the Smart Switch Android app from the Google Play Store.

The app is pre-installed on most Samsung devices and can be accessed through the following menu:

  • Open the settings.
  • taps Accounts and support.
  • Tap Smart Switch.

Some cheaper Samsung devices may not have the Smart Switch app pre-installed. In this case, proceed as follows:

Although the wireless method of streaming content is the easiest way to use Smart Switch, there may be times when you need to switch to a wired connection. Here you will learn how to transfer content from Android phone to Samsung smartphone via cable.

Necessary things: USB cable, OTG adapter.
Note: If you have a Lightning to USB-C or USB-C to USB-C cable, you don’t need an adapter.

  • Install the Smart Switch Android app from the Google Play Store.
  • Connect the two cell phones with a cable.
  • Open the Smart Switch app on the old phone.

  • Tap “Smart Switch.”
